SEND & Inclusive Practice at Carlton

Here at Carlton, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school. Our 2015 Ofsted report notes that “Disabled pupils and those with special educational needs do exceptionally well because leadership of this area is outstanding.”

We have an established inclusion team who work to ensure that all children are included in all aspects of school life, no matter what their need or stage. Across the school there are systems and practices in place to ensure that all children receive the quality of education that will result in them achieving their full potential. We understand that by changing some aspects of our practice, we remove children’s barriers to learning and aid their progress.

The school’s excellent inclusive practices were recognised when Carlton received the Achievement for All Award. Carlton is a leading school in this area and was also visited by the Permanent Secretary, which provided us with the opportunity to showcase our systems.

Carlton was also awarded the Camden Award for Inclusion – recognition that our inclusive strategies impact on our children.
